Overview
Lotus Lightness Infusion (Qing He, 轻荷) places the lotus leaf (荷叶 He Ye) at the heart of the cup — the plant the Chinese summer has called upon for centuries for its clear, thirst-quenching brews.
Around it, three summer companions: hawthorn berries (山楂 Shan Zha), cassia seeds (决明子 Jue Ming Zi) and a touch of rock sugar (冰糖 Bing Tang) — the gentle note of the tea houses.
Delicately green, barely bitter, it calls up the spare elegance of the pond in bloom: a clean, airy sip made for the days when the heat rises.
Presented as tea bags, it is enjoyed hot, or brewed then iced — the minimal gesture of a summer pleasure.
Traditional uses
A cool-natured infusion of pleasure, conceived as a refreshing ritual when the summer heat rises.
To enjoy hot or iced, with no learned preparation — a daily pleasure more than a formula.
Preparation and traditional-use quantity
- Infusion: 1 tea bag in 250 to 300 ml of water just off the boil, 5 to 8 minutes
- Iced: brew, then serve over ice in summer
Precautions
Avoid during pregnancy, and on cold-Centre grounds — lotus leaf and cassia seeds are cool by nature, and cassia may, in sustained use, hasten transit.
Seek a practitioner’s advice before any prolonged use.
